Miss Julie-anne, Creator of Starlets SA, Dance Teacher and head sprinkler of Stardust. Miss Julie-anne has worked in the entertainment industry for over 20 years. She started dancing at the age of 3 back home in Stockport, UK and was born to be a performer. She did have a short lapse of wanting to be a detective after discovering Agatha Christie Novels but finally decided that being on the stage was all she wanted to do. She attended North Cheshire Theatre School where she studied Dance, Acting and Vocal Technique. As soon as she turned 18 she went out into the big bright world and landed her first position for Haven Holidays as an Entertainer. There she undertook a variety of different roles as Dancer, Presenter, Sound & Light Technician, Mascot and Children’s Club Leader, entertaining 100 children on average daily.
Miss Julie-anne continued to work 6 summer seasons for Haven and Park Resorts Holiday Company (both prestigious holiday companies in the UK). She further built her skills by then becoming a choreographer and Assistant Entertainment’s manager for the company. Also creating entertainment programs and producing shows. During the winter Miss Julie-anne was lucky enough to land a variety of short contracts for entertainment companies such as P&O Cruises, performing at a 5 star resort in Japan, playing Cinderella in a touring pantomime production and also becoming the first female DJ in Qatar, UAE at the Doha Sheraton.
In 2002, Miss Julie-anne won Teamstar of the Year at Park Resorts Holidays. A highly regarded award amongst the 200 Teamstars that were employed at the time. She was then offered a position in their Head Office where she continued to have an input into the future of entertainment on their parks. She also choreographed their in-house production shows, which were performed over 35 parks in the UK and their shows for hotels across Cyprus.
Following on she then formed her own cabaret band Blondz which toured UK and Europe and became a touring manager for SG productions. She also coached the Manchester University Dance Team to become 2nd in their National Championships.
One of Miss Julie-anne’s dreams came true when she accepted a position as Dance Captain for the prestigious Theatre Camp Stagedoor Manor in New York in the Summer of 2006. Unfortunately due to the sudden loss of her father Miss Julie-anne returned home to the UK.
After meeting her husband (an Australian) she decided to make the big move to Adelaide in 2010 and found employment at The Fairies in Norwood where she first became “Miss Julie-anne” and started teaching Dance to 2 year olds and upwards. After her maternity leave and a move further down south, Miss Julie-anne found a similar position at Fairy Wings and Pirate Things and stayed there for 2 years until the store sadly closed.
In October 2015, she decided to fulfil her lifelong dream to set up her own Children’s entertainment Company and started Starlets SA.
Starlets SA provide Dance, Acting & Musical theatre Classes, holiday programs and interactive shows with more exciting projects to come in the future.
Miss Julie-anne wishes to provide a place where students can find an appreciation of the performing arts and build their confidence. A place where families are supported and feel part of a community. A place to provide opportunities for professional work in the performing arts sector.
Miss Julie-anne is overwhelmed by the support she has received and appreciates all the families, students and staff that have helped her live the dream.
